You CAN buy this stuff as a joe sixpack customer online. The crap you buy in Autozone for a couple of bucks won't do anything except lighten your wallet. Yep, the professional stuff stinks to holy hell and really will work great on fouled injectors, intake runners, etc. So without having seen the car, I tend to think the original poster was victimized and sold something he really didn't need.Īs for your comments about injector cleaner. I haven't seen too many non-Fords in my day that have had "clogged injectors" at 30k miles. As a "preventative maintenance item" it is an utter, complete and total waste of money. In BD's defense, it is sometimes a needed service IFF you have a bona fide problem. They are great preventitive maintenance for people who dont do anything under their hood themselves. More than likely, they will try to sell the same thing. They have to agree to have it done before it is started, and if they feel pressured to do it, decline it and get a second opinion. It is a little pricey, but no one gets ripped off. ![]() These services are great for people who do not maintain their own vehicles, arent mechanically inclined, or are just plain scared they will break something under the hood. Is a $2 bottle of injector cleaner worth it? No. It is some potent stuff, cleans the heck out of the injectors, and stinks to high heavens. The service offered uses a 50/50 mix of strong, undiluted chemicals and gasoline, it is pressurized by air, and is tapped into the fuel system and run off only that mixture. 90% of cleaners added to the gas tank barely clean injectors at all, they get too diluted in 16 gallons of gas, and dont do what they advertise. 99% of options offered are legitimate and do serve a purpose, and do sustain or improve what is was intended to do.Īs for a fuel injection cleaning, the public cant go to autozone and get the chemicals to clean them out good, like the service does, so it would DEFINITELY do what it is intended.īTW, what kind of "first tier" fuels are you using? What kind of cleaner do you use? If it costs less than $3/ bottle, it is barely cleaning anything. I really dont get some of the people here. ![]()
